Susan M. Alt is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Indiana University, Bloomington. Her interests include Mississippian origins, migrations, violence, gender, and the built environment. Her current research deals with the relationships between the Emerald complex, Cahokia, and the Yankeetown culture of southwestern Indiana. She is the editor of Ancient Complexities: New Perspectives in Pre-Columbian North America (University of Utah Press, 2010).
